Work at Salt

Work with an incredible crew, on projects you’re proud of.

Salt Landscaping designs and builds some of South East Queensland’s most beautiful outdoor spaces, and we’re on the lookout for talented, driven people to join a quickly expanding team.

A lot of landscaping jobs are maintenance work in disguise. Ours aren’t. Ongoing garden care belongs to an entirely separate business, so everyone employed at Salt Landscaping is here for their construction knowledge and the range of what they can build.

That range is the best part of the craft. One day you’re laying a stone wall, the next you’re framing a deck, the one after that you’re planting out a garden. If you’re a versatile landscaper who enjoys that kind of week, on some of the best properties in the region, this is a good place to do it.

What we’re hiring for.

Why Salt

What’s actually different here.

A completed stone retaining wall and staircase, Eatons Hill
01

True construction work.

This is not a job doing mowing rounds. Every job is a build: earthworks, retaining, paving, decks, structures, planting out a finished design. Our ongoing garden maintenance sits in an entirely separate business.

A Salt Landscaping design plan
02

Designed before it’s built.

Our own design team draws it, scopes it and schedules the materials. You turn up knowing what you’re building and what it looks like finished.

03

You work your own patch.

Brisbane, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast. We try to keep you on jobs in your own region to minimise travel time. Fuel cards for work travel.

04

Proper systems, not paper.

Schedule, timesheets, site docs and SWMS all run on your phone, in software we built ourselves. No dockets, no guessing where you’re meant to be Monday.

05

We respect your time.

Monday to Friday. 6:30am starts, 3pm finishes, 4pm hard out. Weekends are yours. Salt is owned by three dads with young kids, so time outside work gets taken seriously here.

The Salt Landscaping crew
06

A small crew, not a number.

The owners are in the business every day and you’ll deal with them directly. Behind you is proper project management keeping the site supplied and sequenced, so you can get on with building.

The Standard

What we look for.

Quality, at a pace
We build things that have to still look right in ten years. That needs someone who delivers genuinely good work in an efficient timeframe, not someone who takes a day over a detail and not someone who rushes it.
Site presence
We work on people’s properties, a lot of them prestigious and lived in while we’re there. How you present yourself on site is how the brand gets judged.
Ownership
Nobody is perfect and mistakes get made. We own them, raise them early and stay focused on the fix rather than who to blame.
Safety and the people around you
Two things we genuinely do not flex on: everyone on site works to the same safety standard, and everyone gets on. A good hand who upsets the crew is not a good hand.
The Practical Bits

Before you apply.

Regions

Travel
Fuel cards for work travel. Your own work ute is a plus.
Hours
Monday to Friday. 6:30am starts, 3pm finishes, 4pm hard out.
Licence
Salt Landscaping holds QBCC structural landscaping licence 15583485 and $10 million public liability cover.

Questions

The things people ask.

There’s no role listed that suits me. Should I still get in touch? +

Yes. Most of our hiring starts with someone we already know about. Register your interest and we’ll come back to you when something fits.

How far would I be travelling? +

We’re hiring across Brisbane, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast. We work out which one you’re in when we hire you, then try to keep you on jobs there to minimise travel time. Fuel cards cover work travel.

Do I need a landscaping qualification? +

For the role we’re advertising, a Cert III, a related trade or equivalent time on structural work. Otherwise experience, attitude and the right tickets matter more.

Do you take on subcontractors? +

We do. If you run your own crew or trade, get in touch through the same form and tell us what you do.

What happens after I apply? +

One of us reads it, not a recruiter. If it looks like a fit we’ll usually call you within a few days.
